Norcross, Ga., native Deshun Daniel experienced success on both sides of the ball last year in his junior season at Greater Atlanta Christian. The 5-foot-11 and 215-pound running back/linebacker rushed for 493 yards and eight touchdowns and also collected 73 tackles.

This offseason, Daniel said he was focusing his attention in one main area to improve his play for 2011.

"I am getting recruited as a linebacker and running back," said Daniel. "But most schools are talking about linebacker and I actually think I am better at linebacker. I like playing both sides and yea, it can get tiring but it's a lot of fun, too. On defense, I am really working on my flexability and my agility and trying to get stronger. I am really focused on my speed, too. I run a high 4.5 now but I want to get it down more."

On the recruiting scene, Daniel said he is hearing from several BCS schools and has already attended junior day at Mississippi State.

"I don't have any offers yet but I am getting interest from Florida State, Georgia, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, Boston College and South Carolina," said Daniel. "It is pretty cool to have that interest early on. Sure I would like to get that first offer over with but it is good to get all this interest right now. And of that group, I would say Boston College is showing me the most interest."

Daniel said his MSU junior day experience was his first trip to the Bulldogs' campus and also took in one of their spring practice sessions.

"Mississippi State is my only junior day so far," said Daniel. "And it was a good trip and I loved their environment. They move pretty fast in practice, too, and I liked seeing that. Their linebacker coach (Geoff Collins) said he really liked my film and my recruiting coach, Coach (Greg) Knox, said they like me better as a linebacker."

And Daniel added he is planning a return trip to MSU this summer and also has other trips planned for the near future.

"I am going to South Carolina this weekend and then I am going to Boston College next week, too," said Daniel. "We start our spring break then so I am going to see those schools. I haven't planned out my summer yet but I know I am going to some camps like Mississippi State."
