"I'd like to be remembered for winning... If it's worth playing,
it's worth paying the price to win."
-- Paul "Bear" Bryant

Shannon Terry, "aka Lucky" --BOL Staff
Founder
The founder of Rivals.com, Shannon Terry previously served as the company's chief executive, overseeing the corporate strategy, new product development and day-to-day management of the leading internet site in college sports, high school sports and college recruiting. In July 2007, Rivals.com was acquired by Yahoo!, the largest site on the internet with more than 150 million daily visitors.

Through his influence and vision, Terry not only led the rapid growth of Rivals.com -- culminating with its acquisition by Yahoo! -- but also played a central role in building and elevating the recruiting industry into a successful business segment and mainstream sports topic. As a result, Rivals.com became the defacto source for team and individual player ranking and information in multiple sports.

Prior to Terry's departure from Rivals.com in April 2009, the site grew to more than 225,000 active subscribers and 12 million unique visitors per month via a national network of 300 college, high school and recruiting reporters generating in excess of 500 content items per day. In January 2009, Rivals.com ascended to the No. 5 slot among sports sites, according to comScore traffic measurement reports -- more than mainstream stalwarts such as CBSSports.com and SI.com. Additionally, under Terry's leadership, Rivals.com achieved more than 50% annual growth revenue since the company's inception in 2001.

Terry was named to the SportsBusiness Journal's Forty Under 40 in 2006 and 2007, and the SportsBusiness Journal's Forty Under 40 Hall of Fame in 2008. Terry was also named to the trade publication's 20 Most Influential People in Online Sports (ranked No. 11 & No. 14, respectively) list in 2007 and 2008.

A 1992 graduate of Lipscomb University, Terry also was co-Captain of the University's basketball team where his senior class posted more total wins during its 4 years than any class in the history of college basketball (145). Terry is a native of Woodville, Alabama and now resides in Brentwood, Tennessee.
