Scroggins Talks Favorites, Timeline
With kickoff of the Lane Kiffin era more than two months off, there's no hotter topic around the Tennessee football program right now than quarterback recruiting. And on that front, there's no hotter name than California prospect Jesse Scroggins, who sits undisputed at the moment at the top of the Vols quarterback wish-list.
Scroggins (6-foot-3, 195 pounds), from Lakewood, Ca. emerged early on as one of the Vols' top targets in the 2010 class. His status as a priority at a critical position has only grown as other prospects with offers--Jake Heaps and Andrew Hendrex--have committed elsewhere.
Tennessee had its crack at making a strong impression on the versatile signal-caller when Scroggins attended camp last weekend. He followed that trip with a stop at USC's camp this week and also recently made it to Florida.
That cross-country travel schedule gave Scroggins a chance to get an up-close look at the three schools he's anointed as the trio of programs he's considering, but it apparently hasn't made the decision process any easier.
Rivals.com rates Scroggins as a four-star prospect, the No. 100 overall player in the nation and the No. 6 pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2010.
