After producing a pair of first round NFL draft picks in Dwayne Bowe and Craig Davis this past April, the LSU Tigers are now in the running for one of the top wide receivers in the State of Florida.
North Florida Christian High School wideout Melvin Ray is a member of the Rivals.com Rivals250 for 2008. The 6-2, 191-pound Ray is a four-star prospect according to
Rivals.com and is coming off of a junior season in which he hauled in 500 yards of catches to go along with nine touchdowns.
To-date, Ray already has scholarship offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Maryland, Miami-Fla., Ole Miss, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Transferring to North Florida Christian this past year, Ray was able to participate in spring practice, but due to problems surrounding his transfer, was unable to play in the spring game.
"Spring football is over and I unfortunately did not get a chance to play in the spring game," Ray said.
