Lady luck was on the Beavers side in Las Vegas as Oregon State came from behind to win the game on a Justin Kahut field goal with seven seconds remaining. The Beavers gave up 21 second half points, allowing UNLV 228 yards passing.
It was an up and down game for the young Beaver defense as sophomore Lance Mitchell had an interception and forced a fumble, but the Rebels seemed to move the ball down the field with ease during the second half. The defensive line played solid against the run, but only had one sack on the evening.
Senior Keaton Kristick won his first Giant Killer Stone Award for the season after being named as the linebacker MVP last week. Kristick was all over the field on Saturday and is the unit leader. Fellow linebackers David Pa'aluhi and Keith Pankey also made some nice plays.
Overall, it wasn't the best performance for the Beaver defense, but as the group continues to gel look for improvements all around.
