Favor gives USM second QB commit
Recently, Southern Miss landed one of the top quarterback prospects in the state of Mississippi with the commitment of Dominique Sullivan. On Monday, Southern Miss followed that up with the commitment of one of the top quarterbacks in the state of Alabama.
Millbrook (Ala.) Stanhope Elmore dual-threat quarterback Arsenio Favor has seen his stock rise steadily this summer punctuated by his commitment to the Golden Eagles.
"After coming back from the Mississippi State camp on Friday I sat down and talked to my parents and told them I was ready to commit," Favor said. "We decided that Southern Miss was the place for me."
Favor knew all along that a preseason commitment was likely and the Southern Miss opportunity just felt right.
"I was hoping to decide soon before the season started so that I can focus on my senior year," he said. "I just wanted to go ahead and get it out of the way. They made me feel like I was already part of the team way before I even committed. Southern Miss was one of the first camps that I went to and they made me feel like I was one of the players there already."
The strong physical dual-threat quarterback had other offers from Arkansas State and Western Kentucky with serious interest from Vanderbilt and Auburn before making his decision. Now he is ready to focus in on the season in front of him.
"That's it," he said. "I'm done with camps. I ended everything after that Mississippi State camp and now I'm just getting ready for the season. I plan on having 3,000 passing yards, 1,000 rushing yards, and win a state championship. I'm going for a perfect season."
With talented players around him like five-star Demarcus Milliner, and three-star Rodney Davis, Favor's goals could be within reach. For his part, he now plans on getting totally focused in on attaining those goals.
"I'm strictly focused now on getting better, faster and bigger and doing tht things it takes for my team to win a state championship. After that I can focus in on college."
