Turner impresses observers at Ultimate100
DUNCANVILLE, Tex. - Arlington (TX) Sam Houston quarterback Jamal Turner earned his district's Newcomer of the Year honor as a sophomore this past season. A dual-threat prospect, many were surprised at his passing performance at this past Saturday's Ultimate100 Camp at Duncanville High School.
Turner impressed all observers with his pinpoint accuracy and ability to read the field like a seasoned veteran. Without the option to tuck and run - which he did to the tune of 442 yards and nine touchdowns last year - he still stood out among several other top prospects such as Cooper Jones of Lone Oak, Mitch Manley of Pittsburg and Johnny Manziel of Kerrville Tivy.
Turner, who also passed for 2,611 yards and 21 touchdowns as a sophomore on a traditionally poor Sam Houston team, has been making the camp rounds this summer and has impressed at several stops.
