Signing Day Decision Tracker

With just days to go before National Signing Day, Alabama is headed toward an eventful climax to the end of the 2008 recruiting class. Currently, five of the Tide's top remaining targets have plans to commit on February 6 the first day of the signing period with one additional target announcing one day before signing day. BamaOnline takes a look at the tentative schedule for signing day announcements among the Crimson Tide's top targets with our Signing Day Decision Tracker.

SIGNING DAY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Name:
Eddie Lacy

Where: Foley High School

When: 11:30 a.m. Central Time

Position: Wide Receiver

Vitals: 6-4 215 4.48

Rank: 5-star, No. 1 WR

Accolades: Despite being hampered by injuries for much of the year
still amassed over 1,800 all-purpose yards and 18 scores. On everyone's all-american
list and rated as the consensus No. 1 wideout in the nation. Earned Mr.
Football in Alabama this season and is a Rivals.com 5-star.

Finalists: Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Oklahoma, Texas Tech

Thoughts: Jones has been quiet throughout the recruiting process but
in his case actions speak louder than words. Tuscaloosa, Tallahassee and
Norman were the three cities that hosted him numerous times during the
season for unofficial visits and the Tide, 'Noles and Sooners are his top
three choices coming down the stretch. Has said that he is looking for a
good young quarterback to spend his career with, and each of his three
finalist will have that with Alabama's commitment of Star Jackson, FSU's
commitment of E.J. Manuel and Sam Bradford who will be a sophomore at
Oklahoma.

PROSPECT VIDEO:
Julio Jones

Name:
Trent Richardson

Where: Gadsden City High School

When: 2 p.m. Central Time

Position: Linebacker

Vitals: 6-2 220 4.58

Rank: No. 3 OLB

Accolades: Racked up an amazing 140 tackles and 19 sacks during his
senior campaign while earning 1st team all-state honors. Harris is a member
of the Rivals100 and is rated a four-star prospect and the nation's No. 34
overall player by Rivals.com.

Finalists: Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Tennessee, USC

Thoughts: Harris is another player who has kept his cards close to
the vest but there has been a lot of speculation Auburn has fallen out of favor with the star. USC is likely too far from home and Clemson could be the
darkhorse. Tennessee was added late to the mix. Harris has decided not to
talk until his press conference so look for a lot of speculation leading to
his decision. Harris has visited Alabama numerous times unofficially during
the recruiting process.

Jerrell Harris

Name:
Kendall Kelly

Where: Lincoln (Fla.) High School

When: 11:00 a.m. Central Time

Position: Cornerback

Vitals: 6-1, 175, 4.5

Rank: No. 8 CB

Accolades: Another in a long life of Lincoln prospects to draw
national attention. Bryant has been on the mind of college recruiters since
his sophomore season. He is a Rivals100 member and is rated a four-star
prospect and the nation's No. 8 overall cornerback.

Finalists: Alabama, LSU, Florida, FSU, Miami, USC

Thoughts: Bryant has been quiet since the summer about his
recruitment and even went so far as to keep his official visits hush-hush to
the last moment. Saban and his defensive back reputation has UA in the mix
but Miami or FSU will be tough to beat especially the Seminoles who
seemingly never lose a player from the Lincoln pipeline that they want.
Reportedly had a good visit to Alabama, but the Tide has work
to do to land the star.

T.J. Bryant

Name:
Dre Kirkpatrick

Where: Huffman High School (Birmingham, Ala.)

When: 10 a.m. Central Time

Position: Defensive Tackle

Vitals: 6-4 277 4.78

Rank: 3-star, No. 28 DT

Accolades: Dareus is one of the more productive players in the nation
with 18 sacks as a junior and 20 more as a senior. Grades scared off some of
his early suitors but he has seen the interest pick-up with a recent 18 ACT
score. He is rated the nation's No. 28 overall defensive tackle.

Finalists: Alabama, Auburn, Marshall, North Carolina

Thoughts: It was thought that Dareus would give a verbal to Alabama
on his official but he decided to instead take three more visits. The Tide
is still in good shape especially considering he and his parents want him to
stay close to home. His visit to UNC went well but the distance could be a
factor as he has several family members battling illnesses. Still has work
to do with his GPA but is in striking range.

Marcel Dareus

Who:
Patrick Patterson

Where: Fort Dorchester High School

When: 9:30 a.m. Central Time

Position: Defensive End

Vitals: 6-5 245 4.8

Accolades: Had a strong junior season totaling 80 tackles and nine
sacks. He was off to a good start to his senior campaign before a medical
scare cut his year shot. He is rated a four-star prospects and the nation's
4th best pass rusher by Rivals.com.

Finalists: Alabama, Auburn, North Carolina.

Thoughts: Alabama had an early lead in December with Saban the first
coach to guarantee his offer despite a medical scare. Auburn and North
Carolina hosted Quinn in January and made up ground on the Tide. Right now,
Quinn could choose any of the three schools but the Tar Heels might offer
the best of both worlds with him able to get out of state but still be close
enough to home. But UA and AU are still in the running with the Tigers
possible ahead of the Tide. He has recently reported that he will announce on Signing Day.
