Buffs release new depth chart
BOULDER, Colo. - Following their second scrimmage of preseason camp, the Buffaloes released a new depth chart on Sunday morning.
Trumping the updated depth chart was news that standout freshman wide receiver Josh Smith is out indefinitely after bruising his kidney during Saturday's scrimmage. It is unlikely that he will be back in time for the season opener on September 1st.
According to a CU press release, Smith was hospitalized Saturday night. There were two occasions during the scrum in which he could have suffered the injury.
Smith had the wind knocked out of him after going up for a catch early on and later in the scrimmage he ran into a retaining wall in the southwest corner of Folsom Field after attempting to reel in a pass in the back of the end zone.
Smith was the most impressive true freshman in camp and is already one of the Buffs' top receivers.
"Josh is an electrifying type of guy," expressed offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich.
