Collison Stays Put

As expected, Darren Collison will play at least one more season under Ben Howland at UCLA.

The surprising part is that the 6-foot sophomore point guard will not put his name into the NBA draft to test the waters this summer.

In spite of the fact that next year's point guard class appears to be one of the deepest and most talented in the history of the draft while this June there will more than likely only be a couple of lead guards taken in the first round, Collison has made the shrewd decision to come back to school and develop his game a bit more.

While his rise to stardom from his freshman to sophomore season was a sharp and impressive turn, Collison still doesn't have the point guard position down having been more of a scoring lead in high school.

Collison's instincts aren't on par with other very good true point guards, and while some of that is innate and won't be learned with just another year in school, refining his game and getting a better feel for how to efficiently run a team is something which will surely improve his draft stock.
