Tide lands Kicker
Nick Saban and his staff hosted several prospects as they conducted their first spring practice at the Capstone, and the work the Tide staff did on the practice field appears to be making an impression. Alabama landed its second commitment of the day Saturday from one of the nation's top kickers, West Virginia standout Corey Smith. Smith was on hand to watch Saban's first practice with the Tide.
"Corey committed to Alabama today while on a visit there. He has offers from West Virginia and Virginia as well. There were a lot of schools showing interest, but three offers is very good for a kicker this early," Smith's kicking coach Mike McCabe said. "He's one of the top five in the country. At our camps last year, he was as good as anyone, and I don't think he missed but a couple of kicks. He was just phenomenal.
