Alabama still prepping for Rebels

The Crimson Tide wrapped up its final day of regular practice Thursday amidst some of the chilliest weather since the season began. That autumn chill was a welcome addition for some of the team's more heat-sensitive members.

"Just finished up our third day. I thought we had a good day today, guys were moving around a lot better with it being cooler. The big fellas like it a lot better. We've still got some time to prepare since these guys do a lot of things. We're trying to make sure we give ourselves a chance to play our best game."

Shula also named the team captains for this week: Juwan Simpson on defense, Kenneth Darby on offense and Jeffrey Dukes on special teams.

Injuries and Notes

* Former backup quarterback Marc Guillon released a statement earlier on Thursday regarding his recent departure from the team which stated:

"First and foremost I specifically want my teammates to know that I am very sorry for leaving. I am still behind them and I do not want this situation to affect their focus and preparation. I thought long and very hard about the circumstances of the situation which put me at a breaking point. This crossroad forced me to make a tough decision in the interest of self-preservation based on numerous false impressions the coaches gave me."

* Shula declined to comment on Guillon's statement, saying the team has moved on and that he wishes Guillon well.
