Darren Collison talks to BruinBlitz.com

True freshman point guard Darren Collison consistently provided a spark off the bench for the Bruins during the season. Because of Collison's presence Bruin fans can breathe a little easier with the flirtation that sophomore point guard Jordan Farmar is currently having with the NBA. BruinBlitz.com was able to get a few moments to talk to the youngster about his freshman season.

BruinBlitz.com: You played as a true frosh and made it all the way to the dance. What are you going to do for an encore?

Collison: "The only thing we can do is learn from our mistakes from what we did in the past. Obviously we worked hard to get to that place. We know what it takes to get there and you can't work harder, you are always going to continue to work, but most importantly you have to learn from your mistakes and that's what we are going to continue to do."

BruinBlitz.com: Last year at this time you were a senior in high school playing on a pretty good high school basketball team. Did you ever imagine in a million years that you would have played in the NCAA title game a year later?

Collison: "I never imagined that we would go that far this past season. I knew I would sometime in my career at UCLA I would, but not my first year. I thought it was going to take a little bit of time just for the simple fact that we are all young, but I never knew that we would play in the national championship game. That's the best feeling in the world. Obviously I wish we would have won it but I'm thankful to get to that point coming from my senior year in high school not expecting to make it, I'm proud of my teammates for that."

BruinBlitz.com: What are you going to do in the off-season?

Collison: "As a team?"

BruinBlitz.com: You and as a team.

Collison: "Well for me personally I'm going to continue to do the things that I need to work on like getting bigger and working on some point guard skills. I'm going to work on anything that is possible to help me improve my game. You can work on everything in this game. You can never stop where you're at right now. There are so many things you have to work on and I have to continue to do that."

"As a team we are going to continue to get better as a team. We are going to continue to build our chemistry from here. I have a lot of fun with these players. I love them and they love me and that is all you can ask for. They are fun to play with."
