SEC distributes record earnings to member schools
DESTIN, Fla. | The Southeastern Conference opted to defer its thorniest issue - football scheduling - on Friday, leaving only the pleasant task of distributing a record pool of revenue in what University of Florida president Bernard Machen called "the shortest meeting in the history of the league."
The league distributed a total of $289.4 million to its 14 members, the highest total in SEC history and more than double the total revenue distributed just four years ago in 2009. Each member institution, including the University of Alabama, received approximately $20.7 million. By comparison, the Big 12, which also announced its revenue allocation on Friday, split $198 million among its 10 member schools.
