Georgia RB impressed

A number of recruits were on campus last Saturday to watch Boston College first team-scrimmage, including Norcorss (Ga.) Greater Atlantic Christian athlete Deshun Daniel. Daniel excelled on both sides of the ball, but the Eagles coaching staff sees him as a running back. What were his impressions of his first visit to Boston College?

"The campus was real nice. It was not too big, and it was contained in one area, I really liked that," said Daniel. "The coaches were real cool and it was nice talking to some of the players."

What was the coaches' message to the running back and linebacker star?

"I talked with Coach Siravo he seemed really interested in me," said Daniel. "He said he was going to treat me like I was already offered a scholarship. He kept it real. Everything he told me was the truth."

The 5-foot-11, 215-pound athlete has not received a scholarship yet but is drawing interest from a number of schools including UConn, Syracuse, Maryland, Northwestern, Virginia, South Carolina and Mississippi State. What will it take for the coaches to offer the Georgia native?

"I guess he has to evaluate me a little bit more," said Daniel. "Coach Siravo said he has offered a few running backs already, but I am not sure what their plan is."

What are the schools that Daniel is most interested in?

"Vanderbilt, Boston College, Northwestern, UNC and Duke would round out my top 5," said Daniel.

What did Daniel think about the scrimmage?

"The scrimmage was good the linebackers were huge," said Daniel. "I know the first two running backs weren't playing but the third and fourth were still pretty impressive. I thought the offensive line was also pretty impressive."

Daniel will be checking out UConn, Syracuse and Maryland this week and says competitive football and top academics are the two things he looks for in a school.
