Heavens has no regrets
Brandon Heavens is one of seven true freshmen taking the field for Mississippi State this season.
The former three-star prospect was committed to Auburn for nearly 10 months but made a signing day switch to the Bulldogs and could not be happier about his situation.
"I haven't second guessed my decision," Heavens said. "I know that God has a plan for everything. I'm glad to be here and I'm glad I came. Everybody is like one big family around here. That's what I like about it. I felt more comfortable here than I did at Auburn because everybody is like family and supports each other. We even go to volleyball and softball games to support them because it's like a big family."
The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder from Bessemer, Ala., has spent most of the season second on the depth chart at the H-receiver behind fellow true freshman Chad Bumphis.
"I don't start but I'm second string which is okay with me," Heavens said. "I don't mind not starting because Chad is one of my best friends. We are swapping playing time."
Heavens has played in all six games for MSU this season making five catches for 17 yards and also carried seven times for an additional 17 yards. He also returned his first kickoff last week against Houston for 22 yards.
